Peter

I grew up here in Wangaratta and went to school at Galen College. I started playing sport outside of school in year 7 where I joined the Wangaratta Little Athletics, focusing on the high jump and the 400m. In 2000, I received an athletic scholarship to attend Caulfield Grammar School where I competed in the Associated Private Schools (APS) Athletics carnival. This was a springboard into achieving national titles in the 400m and high jump and representing Australia in the 400m. I was pushing my body to its limits and wondering why I would keep breaking down. Unfortunately, by 2006 I retired from the sport due to constant hamstring niggles and finally brachial neuritis. What I needed was better education as to why I was breaking down which led me to Myotherapy. I completed my B.H.Sc Clinical Myotherapy at Southern School of Natural Therapies in 2012. During this time, I worked for the Melbourne Rugby Union Club, working with athletes, not only treating their conditions but educating them to prevent further injury. I specialise in biomechanics and posture and the benefits of moving well in order to prevent dysfunction. I enjoy working with athletes and treating muscular imbalances with corrective exercises. I also enjoy using dry needles and working through the lower back and hip region. I have over 4 years’ experience working as a Myotherapist and currently also work as an Allied Health Assistant at NHW Wangaratta. I have also completed a Level 2 Athletic Coach specialising in High Jump.

Nick

Growing up as a local I found myself interacting with the Wangaratta community through sport. My interest in Myotherapy stemmed from a love of sport; in particular athletics. I grew up playing football and basketball in Wangaratta, and progressed to a near all consuming career in professional and amateur sprinting. I competed at a state level in high school, and later competed in the Victorian athletic league in events such as the Stawell Gift. During the off season I find great enjoyment in playing soccer, and training in the gym. I like researching new exercises to implement in the gym to achieve optimal performance, recovery and development. In 2015 I completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences majoring in Musculoskeletal Therapy; at Endeavour College of Natural Health in Melbourne. I pride myself in my knowledge of biomechanics and a holistic treatment model. I have a particular interest in the use of dry needling to resolve soft tissue pain. I am also passionate about the treatment of both acute and chronic injuries. I find purpose in restoring function to clients so that they can return to the activities they enjoy. In addition to working at Myo Way I also work part time for The Royal Flying Doctor Service; in their Non-emergency Patient Transport division. Working in this capacity has deepened my appreciation of how mobility and functionality can impact quality of life. I enjoy this role as it acts as another vessel for me to connect with my community. In my spare time I love playing with my dogs Harley and Hazel, training at the track or the gym and playing games with my mates.

Jess

I am a Myotherapist because I am passionate about assisting people to achieve optimal health and well-being. This began as a teen when I became a Personal Trainer at my local gym in Essendon in Melbourne, and trained clients before and after school. After completing VCE, my hunger for the health industry grew, leading me to the Southern School of Natural Therapies. Here, I completed a four-year Batchelor of Health Science in Clinical Myotherapy and met my husband, Peter Hoggan. Together we graduated in 2012 and made our way to Peter’s hometown of Wangaratta. I put my roots down, establishing myself in Myo-Way under the guidance of Ashlee, the founder of Myo-Way. Wangaratta quickly became my home, allowing me to create my own little in-town farm consisting of our dog Tahoe, a chicken, veggie patch and keeping my horses Riley and Artemis on local acreage. In June 2016, Peter and I became the new owners of Myo-Way and to top it all off in May 2017, we welcomed our first child, Dallas, into our lives. I am passionate about treating and guiding all members of the local and surrounding communities to achieve their optimal health and well-being goals. I enjoy networking with other local health professionals so that if a referral is necessary, I can point my patients to the best care. What I love most about Myo-Way is that we are a holistic clinic. Our practitioners come from various backgrounds and work well together to ensure that all our patients receive the best service and treatment. I enjoy assessing, treating and managing a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and pride myself in making sure my patients are well-informed through the process.

Dina

I grew up in the Philippines, where natural medicine is very well accepted. We have our own medicinal garden for teas and rubs when we need it, we also have massages when we have aches and pains, we also use witch doctors for certain issues. As a young girl, I dreamed of being a healer, it wasn’t until after I completed my Therapeutic and relaxation certificates that studying further was a must. Learning about muscles and its integration with the whole body was very interesting so I completed a Diploma of Health/Remedial Massage in 2004 at the Gordon Institute of TAFE in Geelong. During the last term of my study, we are required to have work experience at different clinics. One of our clinic placements was at the Geelong Football Club, providing post-training massages for the players. Since completing my diploma, I have worked at various clinics, such as Tanti Ave. Massage clinic, Malvern Natural Healthcare and eventually running my own business in Wheelers Hill. I always believed that ‘we are what we eat’ and ‘health is wealth’. Without us looking after our bodies with exercise and our food intake, we are no one or sick one. In my work I focus on finding out the client's needs and assessing what treatments they require because it is paramount to me to give the right treatment for efficient healing. At times some clients just need someone to listen. I am qualified to treat clients holistically with TrP therapy, Deep tissue massage, Myofascial release, and pregnancy. I am very passionate about non-communicable diseases as it is related with diet so I am currently studying a Batchelor's Degree in food and nutrition at La Trobe University to further help my patients with NCD. I am also a mum with 2 teenage kids and a sport lover so we are very active. As well as a volunteer, I’m also passionate about humanity.
